Can a person be a Christian and believe in the science of evolution?

Below is a response to a poll I took. I felt I needed to explain my answer, as the poll was a little narrow. I had selected the answer, A person cannot be a Christian and believe in evolution

Anyway, I thought the answer was good enough to bring here.
--cut and paste begins after this line-

I think the evolutionist disregards God's word.

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Evolution removes the need for a savior, much less the Savior.

While an evolutionist can claim the name of Christ, and even practice some elements of His earthly ministry, he cannot recognize his own fallen condition. It is, for him, a condition of evolution, and not Adam's transgression. Without the first Adam, there can be no second Adam.

While he may "accept Christ", the Christ he accepts is not the one of the Bible.

That's why I answered the way I did, even though he can be a Christian in the broadest sense of the term (as the LDS and JW are as well), they have created for themselves a false christ, and this false one cannot save them.

IMHO

God Bless,

Robert

No god, no guilt? No God, know guilt. Know God, no guilt.

This young lady is wearing a slogan.

More than a slogan it has become a rational for unbelief.

Unbelief in God, while it may seem to rationalize certain behaviors, does not remove guilt. Everyone was created with a conscience. ("con"with+ "science"knowledge = with knowledge) Essentially, we know the difference between right and wrong, even when we rationalize those behaviors. This sense of guilt, carries with us, and weighs us down. The guilt comes from a place where we know that we will be held accountable for the wrongs we have done, despite all rational.

It is important to note that this slogan connects atheism with immorality. This is a link many atheist reject, but here it is on parade. The idea of "no God" doesn't just appear to release you from past guilt, but opens the door to other things that might otherwise violate your conscience.

Why is it so important to the atheist agenda to encourage "sin"?

The Bible says:
"Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the Lord. -Hosea 5:4

So by getting you to ignore your conscience, they lock you into a cell. You become 100% invested in the idea that their is no God. You have gambled everything on it...but the truth is you cannot "know that there is no God" you can only assume that. However you depend on it, when you embrace sin in your life.

If you are struggling with guilt, atheism cannot save you. It is only when we recognize the utter sinfulness of sin, through the word of God, that we change our mind about it. Then by turning to God we partake of his grace, and He forgives us through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ. Our sins then removed, as far as the east is from the west, we no longer bear the burden of or sin. There is no longer the dread of facing our creator at the judgment day.

Know God, no guilt
